Frequently Asked Questions
Q: I heard about a topical botox, something that you just apply to the skin. Tell me how it works.
A: Derma Vital does offer a topical wrinkle filler. We use the Skeyndor Corrective technology. For more information about well-reputed Spanish cosmetic company Skeyndor, please click here. Essentially, after years of research and testing, the Skeyndor Laboratories, long famous for their scientific cosmetics, developed the Corrective, a cosmetic treatment for women which removes wrinkles, even the deepest ones, and rejuvenates the facial expression, restoring the skins firm, youthful appearance.
Obviously, offering a real alternative to the invasive and surgical treatments that correct the deepest facial wrinkles (expression lines) has been, without a doubt, the most important challenge facing scientific cosmetics! Skeyndor Corrective, in one and the same treatment, combines fill-in techniques and the application substances that can relax the skin's micro-contractures, an intense smoothing effect is produced on the deepest wrinkles. As a result, these wrinkles disappear gradually and naturally after the first few sessions.
We also offer the supporting cosmetics for you to use at home--the instant wrinkle filler cream, the eye expression lines eraser, the expression lines serum, and the instant lip contour filler.

Q: How is men's skin different than women's skin? Do I need something different for my skin than my wife?
A: An excellent question! The male epidermis is 30% thicker and 20% more keratinized than women's. It has a greater capacity to remain hydrated and to protect itself; it has greater microvascularization, oxygenation, and cell respiration; it has more collagen content, with a more consistent fibre network. This results in firmer skin that takes longer to wrinkle! (Darn men!)
The weak point in men's skin is that once the aging process starts, it develops at an accelerated pace. It also produces 75% more sebaceous secretions than women's skin, and this means a greater tendency of shiny skin and impurities.
For these reasons, it is essential that men keep their skin in good aesthetical and hygienic condition, by following basic, daily care routines that can significantly delay the appearance of signs of aging.
Derma Vital recommends the Skeyndor Men range. It's a professional line designed to 1) maintain the homeostasis (balance) of men's skin, which is essential for ensuring its fine qualities, and 2) correct the most frequent non-aesthetical problems in men's skin at before thirty and after thirty. The line contains organic silicium to stimulate tissue renewal and strengthen structure, vitamin c to enhance the skin's defenses and delay signs of fatigue, and thermal water, which calms, re-balances and remineralizes the skin.
Skeyndor also offers specific products to treat certain issues, for example, bags under the eyes and shininess.
Q: How does photo-light skin therapy work? What is a photofacial?
A: A Photofacial is a generic term for a skin treatment that uses some kind of light-based technology. Photo facials work best in conjunction with a regular skin care routine that you develop with Derma Vital staff. Photo facials have a number of different uses, but are mostly used for boosting collagen or treating various skin conditions such as acne, brown spots, broken capillaries, etc. The two main types of technology used for photo facials are LED (light-emitting diode) and IPL (intense-pulsed light). They are different, so it's important to understand which photo facial technology is being used. That way you are more likely to get the results you hope to achieve.
An LED photo facial is a very gentle treatment that uses narrow spectrum light to boost collagen, which creates plumper, younger-looking skin, or to kill the bacteria that causes acne. This type of photo facial is more likely to be found in a day spa with a serious focus on aesthetics. LED photo facials are painless, cool and relaxing, and carry no risk of burning. The best results come after a series of photo facial treatments. To begin, a series of six treatments with a one-to two weeks between is recommended. After that, maintain with a treatment every month or two. It can be part of a facial or a stand-alone treatment. LED photo facials are a good choice for people who want to boost collagen or treat acne. The collagen-boosting, facial rejuvenation properties of LED photofacial's have been proven with medical research. This is a gentler, more natural, less expensive way to go than plastic surgery!
Then there is IPL photofacial. IPL stands for intense-pulsed light, and this is a type of laser treatment. An IPL photo facial can treat a variety of skin conditions such as brown spots, broken capillaries, spider veins, and facial redness. An IPL photo facial delivers a bright blast of light at very high energy levels through a hand-held device. The heat initiates the natural healing process of your body and promotes increased collagen production. However, IPLs have powerful cooling devices for the outer surface of your skin. You might get some mild redness in the treated area but this should return to normal in minutes. As always, you need to protect your skin from the sun! An IPL photo facial is the better choice is you have brown spots, broken capillaries or facial redness. The number of IPL photo facials you need will vary depending on the condition you're treating, the results you want, and how your skin responds. Generally it is 2-3 treatments, spaced a month apart.
Q: What technologies do you use for photo skin treatment?
A: Derma Vital uses Silhouet-Tone SoliTone Photo Energy System (LED) and Clarion Medical Technologies SkinTyte™ treatment (IPL). These are described in detail below:
The SoliTone is a unique skin rejuvenation device that uses light therapy and special currents to turn back the clock on aging, sun-damaged skin, minor acne, redness, and uneven pigmentation. This multi-platform system features two distinct facial treatments: the LumiLift® and the LumiFacial® . Simultaneous application of these technologies mutually enhances their individual effectiveness, promoting cellular rejuvenation from within. Results are immediate and visible. SoliTone is the first treatment that combines light energy and microcurrents to treat conditions in the epidermis, dermis and muscular regions without discomfort.
LumiLift® is a revolutionary way of rejuvenating the skin and lifting sagging muscles. It is performed with two special electrodes that feature an advanced application of mironized current and light energy. During the treatment, a pulsating light is directed at the skin surface. Light passes through the layers of the skin and penetrates into the dermis. This powerful light stimulates the bibroblast cell to produce more collagen. The increased production of collagen smoothes and softens the appearance of wrinkles, reduces the size of pores and improves skin texture. At the same time, the electrodes emit Micronized currents to tone and lift sagging muscles. At the end of the treatment, an antioxidant product is infused into your skin using two special electrodes to smooth away facial creases. Micronized currents are non-invasive. They stimulate and resemble the biological currents that your body produces to tighten muscles. Extensive clinical research has shown that these currents are able to lift and tone the muscles. Combining light therapy with micronized currents erases years from the appearance of your skin without surgery!!
The LumiFacial® treatment targets common skin problems, such as minor acne, redness and uneven pigmentation. During the treatment, a wrap-around facial panel is positioned in front of your face. The SoliTone selects the specific light energy required for your skin type and condition. The treatment is completed after only 30 minutes. You can immediately return to your normal routine with no redness or peeling.
Both treatments are very comfortable; most of our clients fall asleep during the procedure! These are totally non-invasive and natural, using light from the visible spectrum, similar to sunlight but without the harmful UV rays. Age, lifestyle and skin condition influence how many treatments you need. We give you a complimentary consultation to determine your skin type and condition; we'll evaluate your skin, explain the necessary procedures and let you know how many sessions we'll expect you'll need. While clients report a noticeable improvement just after one treatment, a series may be required; generally, 6-10 treatments achieve optimal results. The changes can last over a year. We commend a monthly maintenance treatment after your treatment plan is complete.
The SkinTyte™ treatment used pulsed light technology to deeply heat your skin while cooling and protecting the entire treated surface. SkinTyte™ can be provided quickly and comfortably with no downtime. The end result is a more youthful appearance. SkinTyte™ uses a broadband of light energy to deeply heat dermal collagen. This process promotes partial denaturation and contraction of collagen. The heat also initiates the body's natural healing process, which creates a renewed collagen foundation, leading to increased skin firmness. Powerful cooling maintains the outer surface of your skin at a cool temperature before, during, and after each pulse, providing the patient a comfortable and safe procedure. This procedure is for clients who desire moderate, noticeable skin improvements without having to undergo surgery. Full results often take up to four months as the collagen foundation of your skin is rebuilt and strengthened.
SkinTyte™ treatments are safe for all skin types, and can be performed on any area of the body where an improvement in your skin firmness is desired--face, neck, abdomen, or arms are the popular areas. Usually two or three treatments spaced one month apart is typical of most clients. Apart from your usual application of moisturizer containing sunscreen, no special skin care is required after treatment, and any mild redness in the treated area usually returns to normal within minutes.
